Teen hits woman, steals her vehicle in Syracuse, police say

Syracuse, N.Y. — A teenage boy hit a woman and stole her vehicle in Syracuse Sunday, police said.
Around 2:06 p.m., a woman called 911 to report her vehicle was stolen from Lea Lane, according to Sgt. Thomas Blake, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Police Department.
When officers arrived, the woman told police she was getting items out of the trunk of her car when she was approached by a teen, who hit her in the face and shoved her to the ground, Blake said. The teen then stole her car, he said.
Onondaga County 911 Center dispatchers said the vehicle was a Hyundai. Around 2:45 p.m., police told dispatchers they saw the Hyundai and were going to follow it, according to dispatch reports.
Blake said the vehicle led police on a brief pursuit before stopping in the Salt Springs area. A teenage boy hopped out of the car and fled on foot, but was quickly stopped and arrested by officers, he said.
